Steelers Re-Sign Familiar WR Only Two Weeks After Releasing Him
The Pittsburgh Steelers made another roster adjustment this morning, adding a versatile offensive weapon to the practice squad as the team continues to evaluate depth across multiple positions. The move marks the organization’s latest effort to reinforce skill spots heading into the late stretch of the season.
According to team officials, the signing reflects Pittsburgh’s interest in players who can contribute in more than one role. The newcomer has experience lining up in different offensive packages and provides flexibility the Steelers value, especially with injuries affecting various units.

The front office views the addition as a low-risk, high-upside move, given the player’s athletic background and previous flashes during preseason and camp evaluations. Coaches reportedly pushed for his return after monitoring his progress throughout the year.
The player added to the practice squad is John Rhys Plumlee, returning for his second stint with Pittsburgh this season. Plumlee first joined the Steelers as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft and has since spent time with both the Seattle Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Plumlee built a unique résumé during his collegiate career at Central Florida, appearing in 52 games and starting 33. A dual-threat quarterback in college, he completed 464 of 760 passes for 5,838 yards and 34 touchdowns while also contributing as a receiver with 26 catches for 296 yards.
In 2023, he posted one of his most productive seasons, completing 161 of 256 passes for 2,271 yards and 15 touchdowns at UCF. He began his college career at Ole Miss, where he appeared in 29 games and made 10 starts.
In a corresponding roster move, the Steelers released safety Jack Henderson.

Steelers vs. Bears Key Player to Watch
Caleb Williams, Quarterback, Chicago Bears
Caleb Williams had arguably his worst game of the season on Sunday in Minnesota. He completed just 16 of 32 passes for 193 yards, but he did take care of the football with no interceptions.
Williams now leads the Bears into battle against a Steelers defense allowing the most passing yards per game this season (261.7). They held Joe Flacco under 200 yards on Sunday, but I’m not so sure they’ll be able to do that against Williams and the Bears.
It’s officially Williams’ team now in Chicago as he has the Bears atop the NFC North. We’ll see if he can keep them there this week.
Steelers vs. Bears Prediction and Pick
Home-field advantage has been key for both of these teams this season. The Bears are 3-1 at home and 4-2 on the road, while the Steelers are 2-2 on the road and 4-2 at home.
Chicago just continues to find ways to win football games. It’s not pretty, but wins are wins at the end of the day.
After beating the Jets and Patriots on the road in September, the Steelers lost in Cincinnati and Los Angeles, falling 25-10 as just three-point underdogs to the Chargers. I’ll take the Bears to keep things up at home on Sunday afternoon.
Pick: Bears -3 (-105)
